The rifle offers switch-barrel capability, with a standard AR-15 lower that will accommodate a .223 Remington upper or .30 Remington AR Upper. The rifle, which Remington is billing as a “Compact with Big-Game Capability,” has a buttonrifled 22" barrel with recessed crown, a barrel fluted forward of the gas block, and single-stage hunting trigger set at 4 1/2 to 5 lbs. The rifle is finished in full-coverage Realtree AP HD Camo. The X-Mark Pro Trigger, introduced in 2007, is now adjustable and will be featured on all Remington catalog Model 700s and Model Sevens. The X-Mark Pro Adjustable Trigger is factory set at 3 1/2 lbs., with an approximate range of adjustment of 2 lbs. Remington recommends R staying above 3 lbs. The Model 700 XHR (Extreme Hunting Rifle) will be offered in 2009 with a fluted magnum contour barrel and counter-bored muzzle for ultimate crown protection. Standard and belted magnums will have 24" barrels; XHR in Remington Ultra Magnum chamberings will have 26" barrels. Offered in eight calibers from .243 Winchester to .300 Remington Ultra Magnums, the XHR has a synthetic stock in Realtree AP HD, Hogue Rubberized grip panels and Remington’s SuperCell recoil pad. The Model 700 Target Tactical, in .308 Win., has a 26" VTR barrel profile, with 1/4" counter bore, 5-R hammer-forged tactical target rifling (based on M-24 rifling) and the X-Mark Pro Adjustable Trigger. The Model 7-VTR Desert Recon has a 22" triangular barrel, with an integral muzzle brake, X-Mark Pro Adjustable Trigger and hinged floorplate magazine box. It’s chambered in .223 Rem. and .308 Win. Remington is now chambering the Model 700 XHR Model 887 NitroMagnum R-15 30 Remington AR Model 700 VTR in .17 Rem. Fireball and .243 Win. The rifles feature a 22" Tri-Barrel with muzzle brake, OD green stocks with Hogue Overmolded grips and XMark Pro Adjustable Trigger. The Model 597 .22 is now available with Next FLX Hunting Digital Camo stock. The rifle has a 20" barrel, TruGlo Sights and 10-round magazine box. In shotguns, Remington says the M887 NitroMagnum “redefines pump-shotgun perception.” The shotgun’s contour 28" barrel and receiver feature ArmorLokt, a polymer overmold rustproof shell. It features dual-bolt locking lug recesses milled into barrel tang and trigger plate assembly molded from similar polymer as the receiver and barrel. The 12 gauge is available with a black synthetic stock, and Realtree Advantage Max 4 Camo on the waterfowl model. The Model 870 Super Slug features Ultragon rifling, extra heavy, 25 1/2" fully-rifled barrel, rubber overmolded grip panels on ShurShot stock and extended forend. The 870 Express ShurShot Slug is now available in 20 gauge. Two models have been added to the 879 Express Tactical Line. One model features a receiver mounted, Picatinny rail-style XS Ghost Ring sight, the other, a bead sight. To better address the youth and women’s market, all Remington 870 Synthetic Youth and 11-87 Youth guns have been rebranded “compact” models. The Length-Of-Pull kit comes standard with all compact guns.
