Newsmakers Industry newsmakers Hi-Tec Sports has appointed Brad Gebhard as CEO of its U.S. subsidiary. He now oversees the Amsterdam, Netherlands-based company’s two brands in the U.S. market, Hi-Tec Sports USA and Magnum USA. He is based at the Hi-Tec Sports USA headquarters in Portland, Ore. Bill Berta will continue to lead HiTec Sports’ U.S. business, reporting to Gebhard. Bob Kaiser, former CEO of Magnum, has left the company to pursue other opportunities. B. Gebhard Hi-Tec Sports Names U.S. Subsidiary CEO for 16 years, the last four as chairman. Clark has more than 20 years of industry experience in leadership roles for small and large corporations, much of it in the outdoor recreation market. Kania fills the board position vacated by Clark’s appointment. He has been the president and CEO of FEI Co. Spindler comes to Leupold after retiring from Big Rock Sports, where he was the senior vice president of purchasing and merchandising. J. Clark Umarex USA has named Janet Raab director of sales and marketing for the USA Division of Walther Competition Shooting. Her responsibilities include increasing the visibility of Hämmerli and Walther competition rifles and pistols, as well as RWS precision ammunition. Previously, Raab was a national manager in the NRA Competitions Division. She is an accomplished air-rifle, small-bore, high-power, long-range and 300-meter competitor, holding numerous national records. Raab holds an MBA from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and a master’s degree in international affairs from George Washington University. Umarex USA Names Marketing Director He has a 30-year background in archery and a 17-year career in sales. Terry Thomas is in charge of Missouri, Illinois, Kentucky, Indiana and Tennessee. He has an extensive background in archery and a 16-year career in sales. Byron Thompson is managing accounts in Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi and South Carolina. He brings to Parker 20 years of experience in archery, along with a 12-year career in sales. Randy Timm is in charge of Iowa, Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska. He brings to Parker a 40-plus-year background in hunting and a 20-year career in sales. Paul Tinch is managing Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, Kansas and Arkansas. He has a 30-plus-year background in archery and a 15-year career in sales. Paul Beck is in charge of New York, New Jersey and New England. He brings to Parker 30 years of hunting and a 20year career in sales. D. Spindler D. Kania Zanders’ Sporting Goods announces that Herb Seeger has been appointed to the position of director of information technology (IT). He will head a threeperson team tasked with the planning, organizing and execution of all IT functions for the company. Seeger earned a master’s degree in science in business technology management from the University of Illinois. He brings to Zanders’ more than 15 years of experience directing IT operations. Zanders’ Sporting Goods Names IT Director NSSF has promoted Melissa Schilling to director of its recruitment and retention initiatives. Schilling has worked at NSSF for nine years, and formerly was manager of recruitment and retention. Schilling oversees NSSF’s Hunting Heritage Partnership grant program, and manages the Range Partnership grant program. Schilling will oversee NSSF’s First Shots learnto-shoot program. Tisma Juett, manager of First Shots, will report to Schilling. M. Schilling NSSF Names Director Of Recruitment Swarovski Optik North America LTD announces that Dean J. Capuano has been promoted to the position of director of communications, reporting to CEO Albert Wannenmacher. Capuano oversees all aspects of the company’s communications, which include advertising, public relations, trade shows and internal communication. He began working at Swarovski Optik North America in April 1998, and has filled many roles, including training the sales force and building the communications team. D.
