Industry news NSSF’s Doug Painter Retires oug Painter, former NSSF president and CEO, and the association’s longest-serving employee, retired March 31. Most recently, Painter served as NSSF’s senior advisor and trade liaison. Painter’s career at NSSF covered 37 of the organization’s 50 years. Appropriately, he is the author of “The National Shooting Sports Foundation: A History 1961-2011,” a publication marking NSSF’s golden anniversary and a chronicle of the organization’s achievements, many of which Painter witnessed firsthand. “It’s been a great privilege to play a role in helping to sustain and strengthen America’s sporting traditions over the past four decades. Much has changed D over the years, but the importance of investing in the future of our outdoor heritage has not. I look forward to continuing to remain active in such efforts,” Painter said. NSSF honored Painter for his many contributions to NSSF and the industry during the State of the Industry Dinner at the 2011 SHOT Show. “I’ve had the privilege of knowing Doug and working with him for 31 event-filled years. Throughout some pretty trying times, he has remained a stalwart source of good humor, sound advice and creative advocacy for our cause,” said Steve Sanetti, NSSF president and CEO. Doug Painter C-MORE Supplies Army With Combat Shotgun he U.S. Army has awarded a $5.5 million contract to C-MORE Competition for 2,500 advanced, 12-gauge combat shotguns, known as the M26. The M26’s modular design allows it to T be attached under the barrel of a soldier’s M4 rifle. Additionally, the M26 can be detached from the M4, mated with a buttstock and used independently.
