Industry news Academy Considers Record Number Of Entries he 2011 Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence awards drew a record 193 entries in its 14 categories. The Academy, celebrating its 20th anniversary, recognizes excellence in design, innovation and service to the industry. The voting members of the Academy, which include gun dealers and manufacturing and distributing executives, have completed their review of the entries, and narrowed the list to the top three in each category. This month, voting members will consider the official award nominees, and cast their final vote to determine who will receive this year’s awards. This year, the academy announced a change in the voting process, with the introduction of the “golden vote.” “Academy member dealers now have ‘golden vote’ power, which means their votes are double weighted in each category. Our goal is to provide dealers with more influence in offering their customers the best products available,” said Randy Molde, Academy director. The 2011 award recipients will be announced in conjunction with the Shooting Industry Masters. “The red-carpet extravaganza we’re planning to celebrate the 2011 award announcements in Bowling Green, Ky., July 22 will be unforgettable. We’re excited to celebrate 20 years of unique industry collaboration through the Shooting Industry Academy of Excellence,” Molde said.
