The importance of Their success, in many real, tangible ways, determines the success of the industry. How do dealers view 2011, with the forecasts of a continuing, if not worsening, sour economy? We asked four dealers the following questions: “Without giving away any of your business secrets, what do you think it will take for dealers to succeed in the firearms business next year, given the continuing challenging economy?” “What would you like to see more of from manufacturers and distributors to help you succeed next year?” “How important will the Internet and social media be to your success next year?” “When all is said and done, what will be the key to your success next year?” These independent dealers greatly differ in the sizes of their operations, business concepts, customer demographics and regional locations. However, they view 2011 much the same: A year for improved business methods — an opportunity.
