Industry news Nevada Department, Nebraska Police NASGW Presents 2010 Awards he National Association Of Sporting Goods Wholesalers Select Smith & Wesson M&P15 (NASGW) presented its 2010 Industry Awards at its Annual S mith & Wesson Holding Corp. has announced the Nevada Department of Public Safety (DPS) is equipping its officers with 500 M&P15X tactical rifles. Nevada DPS joins the Nebraska State Patrol as the latest law enforcement organizations to convert to duty rifles from the M&P Series. Along with the 500 M&P15X rifles, Smith & Wesson provided the Nevada DPS with a training and armorer’s course package. As the department continues its full conversion over to the Smith & Wesson M&Ps, officers will complete a certification course. The Nebraska State Patrol chose Smith & Wesson’s M&P15 tactical rifles after an extensive testing and evaluation period that involved eight different firearm manufacturers and 17 different submissions. Smith & Wesson has shipped 475 M&P15 rifles to the Nebraska State Patrol. Officers have completed certification courses and the M&P15 rifles are currently in service. Hornady Manufacturing Co., Ammunition Manufacturer of the Year. Sturm, Ruger & Co., Firearms Manufacturer of the Year. NASGW also presented The Chairman’s Award for Industry Leadership, which recognizes an individual, company or organization for their distinguished service to the shooting sports industry. The award was presented to Joseph Chiarello & Co. Inc., “in recognition of their more than 25 years of outstanding performance in providing insurance and risk management services to the firearms industry. ” A review of the NASGW Annual Meeting & Expo will be featured in the February issue.
