Industry news uring 2009, Brownells sent its GunTech staff on the road to pass along their knowledge in various areas of the gunsmithing trade, teaching as many as 160 students in 10 different classes at gunsmithing schools across the country. The schools included Montgomery Tech, Trinidad State Junior College, Murray State College, Wabash Community College and Pennsylvania Gunsmithing School. Classes covered alternate finishes, custom bluing, AR-15/M16 maintenance and repair, gunstock refinishing and 1911 building. “We’ve always believed that sharing information freely will make the gunsmithing profession stronger. It’s an honor to be able to send our guys out to share what they know. Our GunTechs have helped develop the products and processes they teach about; they know ‘how to’ better than anyone,” said Frank Brownell, Brownells CEO. Brownells also hosted a weeklong series of classes on the Remington 870 and 700, Colt M16/AR-15 and 1911, plus a one-day Glock armorer class — all taught by factory experts — at their Montezuma, Iowa, facility.
