EXTRA! A Night To Celebrate The Industry he State of the Industry Dinner, to be held the first night of the show, Jan. 15, is sponsored by Versus Country, Ducks Unlimited and the National Shooting Sports Foundation. “We have something new for the State of the Industry dinner this year,” Mannuzza said. “In the past we’ve always had singers, but the response from our survey has been that peo- T ple would like to see a comedian. So we’ve been very fortunate to get Bill Engvall.” The evening’s festivities begin at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception. Dinner begins at 6:30 p.m., followed by the State of the Industry multimedia presentation and the presentation of industry awards. Then, Bill Engvall takes the stage. The cost for the evening is $90 per per- son or $850 for a table of 10. Tickets may be ordered online at www.shotshow.org. Order tickets online at www.shotshow.org. Take Advantage Of Rapid Check-In T wo years ago, show officials instituted a rapid check-in procedure to reduce the time retailers had to stand in line at the show. Badge-holder pickup was eliminated in favor of placing badge holders in large bins. This permitted attendees to quickly pick up a badge holder and turn in their badge stub to verify that they had attended the show. Turning in the stub allows officials to get an accurate count of who actually attended, and to place attendees on a priority list to receive information about the next year’s show. “We’re going to do that again this year,” Mannuzza said. “Each year, we’re increasing this a bit by bringing in more scanning terminals. We’re also doing it with the media this year. Everyone now can go to a kiosk, scan their bar code and print out their badge without having to wait in line. It’s just like going to the airport with your e-ticket and bar code. International attendees have always done it this way, and now we’re offering it to everyone.” Today, more than 90 percent of SHOT Show attendees register online, so it makes sense to simplify the registration process as much as possible, Mannuzza said. “We’re always looking for ways to bring new technology to the SHOT Show, particularly technology that will make things easier for attendees and let them walk onto the show floor as quickly as possible,” Mannuzza said. • SHOT SHOW EXTRA SUPER ISSUE 2009 Circle No. 207 on Inquiry Card 58 Read SI DIGITAL www.shootingindustry.com
