Each one surprises you, and each one has some new delight that really makes the show memorable and worth going to. There’s just no other opportunity for the dialogue between the manufacturers and the dealers that helps us serve the shooters of America, and that’s what we’re all about.” As always, exhibitors from numerous countries will participate in the show. Jeanette Mannuzza, NSSF’s manager of exhibitions and conferences, expects about 150 foreign exhibitors from 24 countries at the Orlando event. The foreign edition of the SHOT Show mailing is printed in 12 languages. “The SHOT Show has become really international because of the number of people who attend from European and Asian countries,” Mannuzza said. “Of course, we won’t know exactly how many international attendees we have until the show opens, but over the past several years we’ve normally had about 2,000. These are people who see International Business the importance of this show and are willing to come this far to attend.” Last year, Trade Show Week, the trade journal of trade show business, ranked the SHOT Show as the 23rd largest in the country, based on the 2007 show. In addition, for the fifth time, the SHOT Show was named one of the 50th fastest growing shows of the top 200 trade shows in the country. “This is still such a growing, vital business,” Mannuzza said. “This ranking shows there’s continued growth. The marketplace is what’s growing the SHOT Show, so we can feel confident that our marketplace is strong.” Interest in the law enforcement segment of the industry also increases each year. The SHOT Show is now the second largest law enforcement event in the country. “Having such a big law-enforcement section at the SHOT Show brings the entire community under one roof,” said Chris Dolnack, NSSF senior vice president. “With the product shift we’re seeing in many firearms retailers today toward carrying more tactical gear and arms, having the law-enforcement exhibitors here allows those retailers to see all the products they need in one place. They not only see product for their traditional hunting and target shooting customers, but also the tactical items they’re starting to carry.” SHOT SHOW EXTRA SUPER ISSUE 2009 • www.shootingindustry.com 55 |
