The cartridge features the H-groove, a predetermined breaking point in the middle of the bullet’s jacket that separates the bullet’s two cores to deliver high shock and deep penetration. The round leaves the muzzle at 3,130 fps and delivers 2,828 ft./lbs. of energy. At 100 yards, it travels 2,776 fps, delivering 2,224 ft./lbs. of energy. The 77-grain bullet is the heaviest magazine-length tolerant .22 caliber bullet Sierra makes. It’s available in boxes of 50 and 500. New to the .30 caliber MatchKing line is the .30 caliber (.308 diameter) 135-grain HPBT MatchKing. The bullet is a lighter-weight, low-recoil .30 cal. bullet for smaller-capacity cartridges. It’s available in boxes of 100 and 500. The 6mm (.243" diameter) 95-grain HPBT MatchKing is new to the 6mm MatchKing line. It is built off the Sierra 6mm 107 MatchKing, offering a lighter weight alternative, with a long ogive, small meplat and improved boattail. Sierra recommends a 9" twist rate or faster. It’s available in boxes of 100 and 500. Sierra also presents the next version of its Infinity ballistic software, Infinity Version 6. The latest version features improved atmospherics and revised print formats. Tabular formats have been added, including profiled winds, twist rate and recoil. The software is compatible with Windows Vista, XP or Win2K and requires 60MB of hard drive space. emington’s Premier AccuTip Bonded Sabot Slug features the new Power Port Tip. The six spiral nose cuts and “proprietary bonding technology” ensure controlled expansion at all ranges from 5 to 200 yards. Remington reports a 95-percent weight retention. The Power Port Tip of the .58 caliber slug “controls aerodynamic properties, balances the slug and enhances accuracy.” The slug’s jacket is made of cartridge brass for added strength. In other shotgun ammunition, Remington has added two 12 gauge, 2 3/4" loads to its Nitro Turkey Magnum Lead line. In Wingmaster HD, Remington adds one 10 gauge and two 20 gauge loads. A .410 is now offered in the Nitro Sporting Clays line. In rifle ammo, Remington adds the 7mm Remington Ultra Mag to its Power Level line. The 7mm Rem. Ultra Mag. Power Level, like the .300 version, offers three levels of performance from one rifle. Power Level I-Terminal is equivalent to .270 Win./.280 Rem., Power Level II-Extended compares to 7mm Rem. Mag., and Power Level IIIExtreme matches the 7mm Ultra Mag. performance. In Managed Recoil, Remington adds .260 Rem., 7mm-08 Rem. and .300 Rem. Ultra Mag., bringing the number of calibers in the line to nine. In Premier Match Rifle ammunition, additions for 2008 are .223 Remington, with a 77-grain MatchKing bullet; and .308 Win., with a 175-grain MatchKing bullet. The new .338 Lapua Magnum has a 250-grain Scenar Match bullet, with a ballistic coefficient of .675. In .17 Remington Fireball, a 25-grain JHP cartridge joins the initial 20-grain offering. A 62-grain Core-Lokt Ultra Bonded PSP Bullet in .223 Remington has been added to the Premier line. A training version of the cartridge is new in UMC Rifle Ammunition: the .223 Remington, with 62-grain CTFB (Closed Tip Flat Base).
