Industry news Buck Hits Million Knife Mark For 2010 Benchmade Sponsors Disabled Vet Climb 110 folding hunter that rolled off the production line at Buck Knives on Oct. 29, 2010, was the millionth knife made by the company this year. “We’re breaking records,” said Phil Duckett, Buck’s COO. “It’s awesome, and we still have two months to go.” Another positive sign of growth, say company officials, has been the addition of 40 new employees this year, bringing Buck’s total workforce to 250 in their Post Falls, Idaho, plant. “This is a testament to our commitment to making our products in America,” Duckett said. “The troops on the floor worked hard to get us to these impressive numbers.” Visit www. A enchmade Knife Co. recently sponsored “Soldiers to the Summit,” an extreme mountain-climbing expedition of expert climbers and wounded combat veterans from the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Organized by World T.E.A.M. Sports, a nonprofit organization that supports disabled athletes through team athletic events, the 20-day expedition took place Oct. 2-21. Each team member carried a Benchmade Model 940SBK folding knife, personalized with a custom laser mark. This also was the second time Benchmade supported expert climber Erik Weihenmayer, who is blind.
