By Shari LeGate Brunton Partnerships Strong Dealer Support Is Vital To Company’s Success Pledges W hile known for quality optics and premium hunting gear, Brunton Outdoor Group has been under the radar for the past few years. Now, with new owners, Brunton is focused on reestablishing itself as a leader in the marketplace. Dani Schafer John Smithbaker, Brunton CEO, displays the company’s many products. He pledges to make dealers “the priority of our business.” To drive that effort, the new owners hired John Smithbaker, Brunton’s former CEO and president, to resume CEO duties. “The hunting and shooting community is a traditionally oriented community,” Smithbaker said. “It’s where my heart is, where my values are. It’s where my passion is.” With the mission of once again proving Brunton’s reputation as a company that’s easy to work with and one that values relationships, Smithbaker brought a lot of his old team with him when he returned to the company last year. “We want our dealers to know we have their back, and hope they have ours. By committing to us, we commit to them. We want them to share their ideas with us so we can put those into practice and, like in the past, they know we’ll follow through,” Smithbaker said.
