Agencies FMG Publications Presents $15,000 To NSSF MG Publications Publisher Tom von Rosen presented a $15,000 check to NSSF president Doug Painter, Feb. 2, during the NSSF’s board of directors meeting at the SHOT Show. The money was raised during the 2007 Shooting Industry Masters, which supports the NSSF’s Step Outside program. “The Step Outside program works and we appreciate FMG’s efforts on behalf of the entire industry,” Painter said. This year’s Shooting Industry Masters will be held July 26 at the Hartford Gun Club in East Granby, Conn. A masters reception will be held on July 25, in conjunction with the presentation of the Shooting Industry’s Academy of Excellence awards. S mith & Wesson has received an order from the Colorado Springs (Colo.) Police Department for 500 M&P40 polymer pistols. Other agencies that have recently converted to the M&P pistol series include the Atlanta (Ga.) Police Department (1,900 M&P40s), Charlotte (N.C.) Police Department (1,650 M&P40s) and Syracuse (N.Y.) Police Department (500 M&P45s). In January, Smith & Wesson announced an order from the Colorado State Police for 850 M&P40s. “To date, 276 domestic law enforcement agencies have purchased, approved for purchase or approved for on-duty carry our M&P polymer pistols. We are honored to continue delivering highquality products that support men and women in law enforcement throughout United States,” said Leland Nichols, Smith & Wesson president. Dealers Crowd Big Rock Sports Shows ig Rock Sports’ January 2008 dealer shows brought thousands of independent outdoor retailers to three venues across the country, each showcasing Big Rock companies and their products. The Big Rock West Show took place in Las Vegas at the Mirage Events Center. Henry’s 36th Annual Dealer Show was held at the Carolina First Center in Greenville, S.C. Rounding out the show schedule was the CSI Sports January Hunting Show at the Minneapolis Convention Center. In addition to unprecedented show specials and giveaways, dealers won thousands in cash and prizes at the conclusion of each show. This year’s prizes included two new trucks sponsored by ATK-Federal, given away at the Big Rock West and Henry’s shows. Three Harley-Davidson motorcycles, sponsored by Sightron, were given away at all three shows.
