GUNS Magazine December 2010 - Page 44
o come up with the SR9c, Ruger basically shortened the barrel of the SR9 to 3.5" and also shortened the grip frame itself by at least one finger, so the smallest finger on the shooting hand now rides under the grip instead of in front of it. I always found the SR9 to be fairly comfortable to shoot and I expected some of that comfort to be lost with the smaller grip frame, but it wasn’t and this little compact 9mm is both easy and comfortable to shoot. Although it comes standard with a 10-round magazine which fits flush with the bottom of the grip frame, a second magazine holding 17 rounds is also provided. This latter magazine may be used as is or a magazine adapter slides over the magazine covering the exposed part below the grip frame and basically giving the same feel as the SR9 grip frame. Ruger also provides a finger extension magazine floorplate to replace the one on the 10-round magazine to provide a rest for the little finger. Combined T John Taffin Photos: Joseph R.
