GUNS Magazine August 2009 - Page 40
imber of America has introduced a new longrange version of their proven 8400 rifle called the Police Tactical Model in a caliber not often associated with urban police work — the .300 Win Mag — but a caliber very useful to rural departments and civilian marksman. At a price of $1,475 (still a lot of money), it is very reasonable in the context of police/military duty rifles. Many duty rifles retail in the $3,000 to $4,000 range and prices can go a lot higher. Police and military users rightly demand a high level of performance and pay whatever it takes to get it. Kimber’s current high-end Advanced Tactical Rifle, available in both .308 Win and .300 Win Mag, has a price of more than $2,600. Price savings with the Police Tactical are achieved by leaving off a few of the convenience features while retaining the essentials. (It is similar in concept to Kimber’s current, and very successful, Light Police Rifle (LPR) in .308 Win.) K Dave Anderson 40 WWW.GUNSMAGAZINE.COM • AUGUST 2009
