eah, I know. We have IDPA, USPSA, Cowboy, PPC, Bullseye, Fast Draw and the list goes on — do we really need one more? In a word: Yes. We need Zoot Shooters! The brain-child of Jason Huss aka The Hustler, his ZootShooting buddy, Henning Wallgren aka The undertaker and some of their friends, these young people are all about shooting and fun, and doing it safely. I met with them and some Zoot Shooters at the Kahr Arms booth at the last SHOT Show. Since Zoot Shooters are all about Thompsons, it was only natural they teamed up with Kahr, the maker of today’s Tommy Guns. It was obvious Jason and the WWW.AMERICANHANDGUNNER.COM gang were enthusiastic and excited (hell, so was I when I heard what they were doing!), but I was also impressed their zeal was tempered with a genuine appreciation of the safety surrounding what they were doing. American Handgunner hereby tosses our collective Fedora Hats in the ring with the Zoot Shooters. They seem determined to keep it fun, and not allow “gamers” to take things over. Let’s let ’em explain it in their own words, from their website, www.zootshooters. com. And while you’re on their site, appreciate their great sense of humor! Their store is called the “Speakeasy” and videos of matches are called “Talkies.” Toss your inhibitions aside, break out your Chicago Typewriter and become a part of this Bee’s Knees of a group! “American Zoot Shooters Association is bringing back the Roaring Twenties! AZSA is a multi-gun sport in which participants dress in 1920s costumes and compete against the clock engaging targets for the best possible score. Zoot Shooters must use firearms that are correct for the time surrounding Prohibition.
